Overview The Desktop Engineer plays a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Company’s desktop infrastructure. This position works closely with cross-functional IT teams to define desktop standards, develop deployment strategies, and ensure secure, reliable system performance. The Desktop Engineer also supports escalated technical issues and drives continuous improvement initiatives for desktop services.
What you will be doing
Design, implement, and maintain desktop infrastructure projects.
Define and enforce desktop standards, policies, and procedures.
Provide Tier II/III technical support for escalated desktop issues.
Manage desktop imaging and deployment using tools such as SCCM and Intune.
Collaborate with vendors on hardware and software maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices (NIST, CIS).
Support end users with mobile device management and cellular service configuration.
Serve as administrator for internal and third‑party applications (ticketing systems, secure file transfer, VDI platform, etc.).
Develop and maintain project plans, documentation, and system design materials.
Participate in change management processes and proactively prevent recurring issues.
Support Company’s endpoint devices including desktops, laptops, printers, AV systems, and telephony hardware.
Provide reliable, high‑quality service and maintain consistent attendance.
Working Conditions
Standard office environment with occasional travel.
On‑call rotation for after‑hours support.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
What you must have
3+ years of experience in desktop engineering or similar roles.
Strong technical background supporting IT systems, networks, desktops, printers, and other endpoint devices.
Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, and security patching.
Proficiency with desktop imaging and deployment tools (SCCM, Intune).
Experience with mobile device management (MDM) and virtual desktop environments (DaaS/VDI).
Knowledge of Active Directory, GPOs, MFA, and certificate management.
Familiarity with IT asset management, licensing, and compliance frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), MCSE, or equivalent.
Experience designing and troubleshooting DaaS/VDI environments.
Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management standards.
Experience with enterprise collaboration tools (Teams, WebEx, Zoom).
Familiarity with network printing, Wi‑Fi, and VPN troubleshooting.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including Root Cause Analysis.
Salary/Rate: $46.00 hourly
