The Role
The Stamping Controls Engineer is responsible for program/project execution and manufacturing plant floor support of machine controls, robotics, and vision systems in the Arlington Assembly Plant - Stamping Area. Work is performed in a manufacturing facility where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is needed, as well as a high level of independent judgement.
Arlington Assembly Plant Arlington Assembly Plant is a 3 Shifts/6 days Production Operation Plant; candidates for this position will be required to rotate between first, second, and third shift on a periodic basis and availability to support weekend work activities based on area specific needs (including support during scheduled Holiday downtime).
What You'll Do: (Responsibilities)
Enforces safe work practices as the highest priority
Hardware/software integration, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, cost control and documentation of automation/machine control systems
Provide direction and oversight to outside suppliers
Support Tip process in Stamping Area
Provides technical support, direction, and training to personnel/Skilled Trades within the organization
Investigates systems and equipment problems and provides technical input in problem resolution
Controls modifications and continuous improvement of production processes
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
3+ years of experience in controls engineering
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated basic understanding of mechanical concepts involving machine designs, process requirements involved in the manufacturing process
Ability to assist in all aspects of improvement projects relating to machine controls, vision and automation within the manufacturing areas
Experienced in PLC and HMI programming and Ethernet Networks
Knowledge of servo motors, motion control, motor drives, and vision inspection systems
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems relative to automation/machine control
Demonstrated ability to manage challenging projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
Proficiency in interpretation of engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams

Experience with Stamping presses and automation
Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLC RS Logix/ Factory Talk suite experience
Fanuc IR Vision machine vision experience
Siemens HMI programming and integration experience
Rockwell/Allen Bradley PowerFlex VFDs experience
