Overview As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will drive electrical substation design for projects ranging up to 765 kV. You will develop detailed engineering deliverables, including protection and control designs, physical layouts, schematics, and specifications, while ensuring quality, schedule, and budget compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a technical specialist or project lead, coordinating substation projects, providing guidance, and mentoring junior staff.

Prepare protection and control design deliverables: protective relays, panel arrangements, single‑line and three‑line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, relay panel wiring, equipment wiring, and auxiliary power systems.

Develop physical design deliverables: yard layout plans, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems.

Review and approve electrical substation design packages, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Prepare and manage design budgets and schedules; assist with business development pursuits.

Communicate design intent and project activities with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

Travel to client and project sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing high‑voltage substation protection, controls, and physical layouts.

Project lead or technical specialist experience on utility substation projects.

Proficiency in QA/QC reviews and quality assurance processes.

Professional Engineer (PE) license and strong coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams.

Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.

Minimum five (5) years of related work experience.

Ability to complete pre‑employment safety and background checks, including criminal, civil, and motor‑vehicle records.

Hybrid / Flexible Work Options Hybrid or flexible arrangements may be available after the initial 90 days of employment, based on managerial discretion and job requirements.
