Thecalibertech
The Vehicle Dynamics Engineer is responsible for building multi-body dynamics models to predict ride, handling, and stability analysis. The Engineer will support analysis activities throughout the product development lifecycle. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to work on some of the exciting products.
Responsibilities
Build multi-body dynamic models using ADAMS / Motionview and provide direction to the Engineering team on loads as well as vehicle dynamics analysis. Utilize CAE techniques with component, system, and full vehicle models to assess performance in Vehicle Dynamics attributes.
Develop conceptual and detailed sub-system and system Vehicle Dynamics ADAMS models to execute kinematic / compliance modeling.
Ensure CAE targets are met in virtual prototypes.
Be able to correlate analytical predictions with physical test performance.
Work extensively with suppliers to communicate the requirements, reviewing component DVP&R, supporting vehicle build, and assisting the plant in production readiness and launch.
Mentor other CAE analysts & team members in advanced techniques of simulation. Develop and / or improve CAE methodology for increased efficiency. Responsible for CAE signoff and documentation.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent Engineering degree) from an ABET accredited school.
3 to 5 years of experience in CAE.
Must be proficient with any multibody simulation software ADAMS / MOTIONVIEW.
Must have a fundamental understanding of vehicle dynamics and / or loads analysis for chassis components.
Knowledge of DEA and / or durability packages is desired, such as nCode / DesignLife / NASTRAN / MSC Fatigue.
Experience at OEM / tier-1 is a big plus but will consider someone who has a solid background in this domain.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science in Engineering or Ph.D.
Experience with OEM product development for vehicle dynamics and / or loads.
Must be a "hands-on" engineer with a solid understanding of various chassis systems – suspension, steering, and braking systems.
