Accounting Manager
to their growing team.
Salary/Hourly Rate $90k - $115k
Position Overview The Accounting Manager will lead and oversee the daily financial operations of a dynamic and growing construction organization, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all accounting functions. The Accounting Manager will manage a small accounting team, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance oversight to ensure operational excellence. Serving as a key partner to leadership and project management teams, the Accounting Manager will play a vital role in financial reporting, job costing, and WIP schedule management. The ideal Accounting Manager will bring proven experience in construction accounting, strong analytical and leadership skills, and a hands‑on approach to improving processes and driving efficiency. Responsibilities
Oversee all daily accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, general ledger, and job cost accounting, to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper cost coding.
Manage project financials by preparing owner billings (AIA, progress, change orders), reviewing subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, and retention, while driving timely collections and maintaining accurate reporting.
Partner with Project Managers and leadership to support budgeting, cost‑to‑complete forecasting, profitability analysis, and financial process improvements.
Lead, supervise, and develop the Accounting team, overseeing month‑end/year‑end close, reconciliations, and continuous efficiency enhancements across all accounting functions.
Required Experience/Skills
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 - 5 years in a leadership role.
3+ years of direct construction accounting experience (WIP, job costing, AIA billing).
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
Preferred Experience/Skills
CPA designation and/or public accounting experience.
Proficiency with construction accounting software such as Sage or Procore.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
