This role leads engineering sustainment for propulsion, ordnance, and controls systems for the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program and the Trident II D5, ensuring technical excellence and program performance.
Responsibilities
Define, interpret, and implement design requirements; delegate tasks and coordinate the execution of hardware designs, including custom and procured hardware, per engineering process specifications.
Ensure designs adhere to Common Integrated Processes, drive process improvement, and provide solution‑based technical mentoring to improve program performance and drive error‑free design.
Collaborate with program and functional senior leadership to manage staffing, plan assignments and rotations, sustain engineering capabilities, drive performance management, career development, and personnel activities.
Ensure SSCs standard technical processes, tools, best practices, and training are available and properly implemented on the program.
Develop flight‑structure layouts using advanced composites and aerospace metallic materials for weldments; preferred experience with metal machining, welding, and composites.
Travel may be required.
Qualifications
Fundamental understanding of propulsion aerospace hardware systems and processes.
Experience with aerospace flight hardware design, analysis, manufacture, or test and integration.
Experience with requirement development and management.
Previous experience leading a team.
Schedule and planning experience.
Ability to work functional duties with a limited budget.
Desire and ability to own technical challenges through solution.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and customers independently and simultaneously.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
Experience guiding the successful completion of major programs and functioning in a project leadership role.
Full Spectrum Leadership experience and training.
Cost account management (CAM) experience.
Knowledge of Lockheed Martin Command Media related to system design and analyses.
Hardware experience, including design, analysis, assembly, integration, and test; experience using EPDM Windchill, SAP, and design tools.
Systems‑level knowledge of stress, propulsion, harness routing, strength of materials, subcontracts, electrical design/analysis, software, transportation, and launch operations.
Experience working with procurement and outside suppliers.
Experience developing proposal documents and basis of estimates (BOEs).
Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality).
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with technical and non‑technical audiences.
