Responsibilities
Clinical:
Service commensurate with your skills in cardiac surgery at a clinical commitment of 90% effort. You are expected to participate in the adult cardiac surgery service call responsibilities as well as call for cardiac transplantation/mechanical circulatory support. You will be clinical 4 days/week, with practice substantially focused on transplant surgery and the full spectrum of adult cardiac surgery. An additional full day will be devoted to the heart failure clinic as well as the general adult cardiac outpatient clinic.
General Academic and Teaching:
Devote 10% (half day per week) to the formal and informal instruction of medical students, residents and fellows. Participate in operative resident teaching and education, attend division conferences, engage with national organizations, continue to produce scholarly output, and fully attend the Surgery Mortality and Morbidity Conference, the Surgery Staff Conferences, and the Department of Surgery and Division Faculty meetings. Your academic effort should also continue to focus on clinical and translational research programs.
Research:
Build a large Clinical Research Unit devoted to high‑quality/high‑enrollment clinical research. Support your clinical research activities and coordinate investigator‑initiated research. As a member of the Cardiothoracic Surgical Trials Network, you will have opportunities for deep involvement, including serving as a local PI on upcoming trials and participating in developing new trials and quarterly all‑investigator meetings.
Citizenship:
Sign and uphold the Division of Cardiac Surgery code of conduct for faculty and fulfill all obligations as indicated by the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Gold Book and Clinical Practice Association (CPA). Contribute to a positive and collaborative culture in the division and department.
Salary Range The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, such as geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training, and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
