Manager Patient Safety

as our Manager of Patient Safety and Risk at St. Mary Medical Center.
Responsibilities
Lead the facility’s Patient Safety Program, managing the collection, analysis and reporting of patient safety events and data.
Conduct investigations of events, near misses, and claim team requests, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure all accreditation and regulatory requirements for patient safety are fully met.
Collaborate with senior leadership, clinical teams, committees, and other stakeholders to mitigate identified risks and improve patient outcomes.
Manage the coordination of all legal documents related to hospital liability, including subpoenas and complaints.
Champion social justice and health equity initiatives in the delivery of safe, innovative care.
Required Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in patient safety and risk management at an acute‑care hospital.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field, or five (5) years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
Minimum of three (3) years of risk‑management, patient‑safety, or related professional experience.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing or supervising employees and/or vendors.
Proficiency with event‑reporting processes, root‑cause analyses, and event investigation/review.
Experience with patient‑complaint and grievance investigations and prompt resolution.
Knowledge of patient risks in a healthcare environment and ability to reduce those risks.
Familiarity with legal documents tied to hospital liability (e.g., management of subpoenas, summaries, complaints).
Understanding of federal, state, and local healthcare laws and regulations.
Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
RN licensure.
