Position Summary The Prevention Services Division is actively building a workforce reflective of the diverse communities we serve. The Division strives to understand the needs of Colorado’s communities and encourages contributions of stakeholders to identify public health problems. The Branch is organized into sections, including Family Adversity & Mortality Prevention Section, to which this position belongs. This position guides community engagement efforts for the Maternal Health Program and provides grantee support to improve maternal health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain relationships with statewide and community-based organizations to engage individuals with lived and/or community-based experience in public health efforts to improve perinatal wellbeing.

Monitor contracts for community-based and hospital-based grantees; develop budgets and scopes of work, provide technical assistance and support to grantees to implement grant deliverables, ensure payment for services by reviewing and submitting invoices, and complete department contract monitoring requirements.

Lead implementation of strategies for Maternal and Child Health priorities focused on perinatal wellbeing, emphasizing community-based and community‑led solutions and incorporating community voices into the identification, development, and implementation of strategies.

Residency Requirement This position is only open to residents of the State of Colorado at the time of submitting your application.

Minimum Qualifications

Six (6) years of relevant experience in maternal health, public health, health policy, community engagement, health systems, and/or related fields.

OR a combination of related education (graduated from an accredited college or university in maternal health, public health, health policy, community engagement, health systems, or similar) and experience equal to six (6) years.

If using education to qualify, provide a copy of your transcripts (unofficial acceptable).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in perinatal wellbeing interventions that support families and their vital conditions for health.

Demonstrated understanding of the unique complexities and systemic barriers that impact maternal and child health outcomes.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills; ability to adapt style to diverse audiences.

Experience providing support and technical assistance to groups and individuals, monitoring deliverables and invoices from contractors.

Experience using communications strategies and tactics to disseminate information to partners; experience communicating through newsletters, educational materials, and support public awareness.

Demonstrated success cultivating and sustaining collaborative partnerships among diverse organizations, including health care institutions and community groups, especially those reaching families with diverse backgrounds, cultures, and languages.

Demonstrated project management and facilitation experience, establishing goals and timelines, coordinating resources, monitoring progress, engaging partners, measuring results, and advancing program goals.

Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to change, manage competing demands, and handle ambiguity effectively.

Conditions of Employment

Background check required for all positions at CDPHE.

Travel: approximately 10% of the time; travel 1–2 times a year out-of-state for grantee meetings and national conferences; in-state travel 2–3 times a month to engage community partners.
