Job Overview RWJ Barnabas Health is looking for a talented, passionate individual for our Associate role within the Rutgers Athletic Department in New Brunswick, NJ. This full-time position will serve as Sports Health Technician with Rutgers University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to assist with daily coordination of the university's overall sports health program through non-patient facing athletics health care administration. The successful candidate will provide these services to the university's intercollegiate athletic population under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Athletic Training Services, in consultation with the Director of Athletic Training Services, Chief Medical Officer, Team Physicians, and other qualified medical personnel.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a health and wellness field of study
CPR/AED certification through AHA, or successful completion prior to start date
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
Experience managing multiple tasks while working proficiently under pressure
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with efficiency and effectiveness
Commitment to maintain confidentiality and discretion in managing personal health information
Ability to routinely lift equipment and supplies, up to 50 pounds, from ground
Scheduling Requirements
Non-traditional working hours, holidays, evenings, and weekend required
Full-Time Schedule
40 hours weekly
Travel required during specific periods based on competition schedules
Essential Functions
Attend scheduled team practices as directed by supervisor
Provide first aid and emergency medical care to student athletes through accepted medical standards
Provide support to staff physical therapists and athletic trainers during rehabilitative services for student athletes, under the supervision of team physicians and in coordination with staff physical therapist
Assist with the coordination and scheduling of student-athletes for physical examinations, and medical referrals to determine a student-athlete's ability to practice and/or compete in consultation with the team physicians
Educate players, coaches, and staff on injury prevention strategies through a variety of mechanisms
Assist with the compilation, input, organization, and maintenance of accurate and valid medical records regarding University student-athletes
Maintain supply inventory within the athletic training facilities and address procurement needs per departmental procedures
Within the bounds of confidentiality and other related matters of propriety, make sure that relevant information is set forth and presented to coaches, academic support, and health service providers, as well as to athletes and their family members in a clear, concise, and cogent format
Other duties as assigned
