Job Description The Department of Economics seeks to hire a tenure‑track Assistant or tenured Associate Professor in Agricultural Economics. This position is one of six in a cluster hire and will have research and teaching responsibilities, along with affiliations with the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) and the Iowa State Extension farm management team.
Develop a nationally recognized extension and research program in the economics of cooperatives and agricultural supply chains.
Lead the Iowa Institute for Cooperatives Endowed Economics Professorship and design applied extension materials targeting producers, agribusiness professionals, and other relevant groups.
Maintain active research projects with the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station.
Collaborate across departments, extension units, and university centers.
Generate extramural funds to support extension and research activities.
Direct graduate student research and serve on graduate academic plan committees.
Teach approximately one course per academic year.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong training in microeconomics and quantitative methods.
Research interests in agricultural supply chains, cooperatives, agribusiness development policy, or agricultural finance.
Demonstrated ability to communicate economic ideas in public forums.
Potential for accomplishment in extension and outreach.
Potential for accomplishment in college teaching.
Potential for accomplishment in research.
