Position Title: Adjunct Assistant Professor of Economics of Energy and Water
Appointment Type: Faculty
Job Description: The Department of Economics seeks to hire a non‑tenure‑track Adjunct Assistant Professor in Agricultural Economics with interests in the economics of energy and/or water. The approximate division of responsibilities is 15% research, 25% teaching, 55% extension and outreach, and 5% institutional service. The appointment term is three years, renewable upon satisfactory performance. The home college is the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Key responsibilities include: developing a nationally recognized research and outreach program in the economics surrounding the nexus of agriculture, energy, and water; maintaining one or more active projects under the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station; collaborating across departments, extension units, and university centers; synergizing research, teaching, and outreach activities to produce applied outreach materials, publications in refereed journals, and conference presentations; generating extramural funds to support outreach and research; and serving on graduate academic plan committees. The teaching assignment is expected to be approximately two courses per year.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
Strong training in microeconomics and quantitative methods
Strong evidence of research interests in agricultural or energy production, agricultural, water, and/or bioenergy policy, environmental economics, resource economics, and the interactions among these fields
Demonstrated ability to communicate economic ideas in public forums
Demonstrated potential for accomplishment in extension and outreach
Demonstrated potential for accomplishment in college teaching
Demonstrated potential for accomplishment in research
