Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) – Production Support | W2 Role
We are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA with Production Support expertise to join our IT team. The role involves managing, maintaining, and supporting Oracle databases in mission-critical production environments. The DBA will ensure high availability, performance tuning, disaster recovery, and provide 24x7 production support.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, maintain, and support Oracle databases (11g / 12c / 19c) in production and non-production environments.
Perform database installations, configurations, upgrades, patching, and migrations.
Provide 24x7 production support including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving database-related incidents.
Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, Data Guard, etc.).
Monitor database performance and proactively tune SQL queries, indexes, and system parameters.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of databases in clustered and standalone environments.
Perform capacity planning, storage management, and performance forecasting.
Support developers with query optimization and database design best practices.
Create and maintain documentation for standard operating procedures, configurations, and processes.
Work closely with application support, infrastructure, and development teams to resolve issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in production environments.
Strong knowledge of Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and GoldenGate
Expertise with backup and recovery tools (RMAN) and disaster recovery solutions.
Solid understanding of performance tuning and query optimization
Experience with Linux / Unix and shell scripting for automation.
Familiarity with monitoring tools (OEM, Nagios, etc.).
Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
Strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
Willingness to work in rotational on-call shifts for 24x7 support.
