What We Do
Women of Color On The Move (WOCOTM) creates pathways of support, education, and leadership for women of color impacted by poverty, trauma, substance abuse, and systemic injustice. Volunteering with WOCOTM gives you a chance to be part of a grassroots movement.
Position Overview
As a Volunteer Web Designer & Copywriter you will strengthen WOCOTM’s online presence with design and compelling written content. Remote and global location.
Key Responsibilities
Design, update, and maintain the WOCOTM website using WordPress (clean, modern, accessible layout).
Collaborate with the marketing team to integrate visuals and multimedia that enhance user experience.
Ensure mobile responsiveness and optimize performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues.
Implement SEO best practices.
Write and edit clear, inspiring, mission‑driven web copy for pages such as “About Us,” “Programs,” “Events,” and “Get Involved.”
Develop compelling calls‑to‑action that encourage volunteering, donations, and event participation.
Craft blog posts, news updates, and success stories highlighting WOCOTM’s initiatives.
Ensure consistent tone, style, and messaging across all web content.
Collaborate with leadership to translate organizational goals into engaging narratives.
Qualifications
Experience in web design using WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Understanding of SEO, website layout, and user experience principles.
Proficiency in basic HTML/CSS a plus.
Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe XD, or Figma.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Passion for WOCOTM’s mission and women’s empowerment.
Preferred Skills
Background in marketing, communications, digital media, or nonprofit work.
Experience designing for accessibility and inclusivity.
Strong organizational and creative problem‑solving skills.
