WOCOTM is a nonprofit organization founded on the vision of healing, empowerment, and transformation for women and families who have been historically marginalized. Since our founding, we have worked tirelessly to create pathways of support, education, and leadership for women of color—especially those impacted by poverty, trauma, substance abuse, and systemic injustice.
Volunteer Social Media Copywriter Reports to Director of Marketing & Communications.
Location: Remote/Global.
Position Type: Volunteer.
Position Overview The Social Media Copywriter will play a key role in shaping WOCOTM’s online presence by creating engaging, mission‑driven content for our social media platforms. The volunteer will collaborate with the marketing team to craft compelling posts, campaigns, and storytelling content that amplify WOCOTM’s initiatives, attract new supporters, and build meaningful engagement with our audience.
Key Responsibilities
Write clear, creative, and persuasive copy for all social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and TikTok).
Collaborate with the communications and design teams to align visuals and messages.
Develop captions, headlines, and hashtags that reflect WOCOTM’s voice, values, and initiatives.
Adapt content tone and style for different platforms and audiences.
Assist in developing content calendars and campaign strategies.
Research current social trends, hashtags, and engagement techniques to increase reach.
Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with brand standards.
Contribute ideas for new storytelling formats, campaigns, and digital engagement strategies.
Use Microsoft 365 platform and other A1 tools as needed.
Qualifications
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Experience writing for social media or digital campaigns (nonprofit experience is a plus).
Understanding of social media best practices, trends, and analytics.
Ability to write with empathy, creativity, and purpose.
Collaborative spirit and ability to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with Canva, Meta Business Suite, or similar tools preferred.
