Women of Color on the Move (WOCOTM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women and families historically marginalized. Since our founding, we have created pathways of support, education, and leadership for women of color impacted by poverty, trauma, substance abuse, and systemic injustice.
Position Overview WOCOTM seeks a highly organized and mission‑driven
Vice President of Operations NGO (Volunteer)
to oversee daily operations and ensure organizational efficiency. This leadership role focuses on strengthening internal systems, managing programs, and supporting organizational growth to advance WOCOTM’s mission of empowering women, girls, and underserved communities.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership – Oversee day‑to‑day operations, including program delivery, volunteer coordination, and organizational processes.
Strategic Planning – Work with executive leadership to design and implement operational strategies that align with WOCOTM’s goals.
Systems & Processes – Develop and maintain efficient workflows, policies, and procedures to ensure smooth operations.
Technology & Innovation – Leverage digital tools and AI solutions to improve efficiency in program management, reporting, and communications.
Team Oversight – Support and mentor program assistants, coordinators, and volunteers to ensure strong execution of initiatives.
Monitoring & Evaluation – Collaborate with staff to track program outcomes, measure impact, and support continuous improvement.
Collaboration – Serve as a bridge between departments (development, programs, communications, HR) to ensure organizational alignment.
Independence – Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
Technical Skills – Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Microsoft Loop) and Google Docs. Reliable internet and a computer or laptop required.
Passion – Commitment to women’s empowerment, community service, and social impact.
Additional Focus Areas
Staff Management & Development – Provide leadership and support to department heads and staff. Foster a positive and productive environment.
Risk Management – Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure preparedness for emergencies and unexpected challenges.
Communications – Develop content for web, social media, and press.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in operations management, nonprofit leadership, or program administration.
Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Familiarity with AI tools, digital project management, and nonprofit operations (preferred).
Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
Strategic thinker with attention to detail and systems improvement.
Commitment to WOCOTM’s mission and values.
Commitment
Volunteer position requiring 8–12 hours per week (flexible, remote with occasional meetings).
Minimum commitment of 2 years preferred.
