Description We are looking for a skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to lead financial operations and ensure compliance with established accounting standards. - Oversee month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Manage general ledger operations, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Coordinate and lead financial statement audits, ensuring compliance with state fiscal rules and accounting standards.
- Interpret and apply state statutes, fiscal rules, and financial reporting requirements to departmental accounting practices.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to accounting records, providing clear and actionable solutions.
- Collaborate with program staff to translate accounting principles into operational processes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and problem-solving.
- Utilize accounting systems such as and reporting tools like InfoAdvantage to streamline financial operations.
- Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to assess the impact of proposed legislation on departmental finances.
- Ensure accuracy and technical detail in all financial deliverables, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, including 24 semester hours in accounting. Alternatively, four years of related experience can substitute for the degree.
- At least five years of accounting experience, with proficiency in and InfoAdvantage systems.
- Demonstrated experience in state or local government finance or accounting practices.
- Strong knowledge of state fiscal rules, financial reporting requirements, and general accounting standards.
- Proficiency in standard office software, including PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to independently investigate and resolve accounting questions and issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interaction with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
