Description We are looking for a skilled Senior Finance Manager to lead and optimize cost accounting processes within our organization. This role is based in South San Francisco, California, and focuses on ensuring the accuracy of manufacturing cost data, standard cost accounting, and cost analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting principles and a commitment to delivering actionable financial insights. Responsibilities:
- Partner with Accounting, Operations/CLIA Lab, IT, and Facilities to deliver cost accounting solutions.
- Lead COGS modeling, reviews, and tracking against performance targets.
- Oversee product costing, standard cost set-up, forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis.
- Provide financial guidance and challenge assumptions in planning/budgeting processes.
- Manage monthly/quarterly close of COGS and inventory, including journal entries and SOX/audit schedules.
- Review inventory for excess/obsolete reserves with Operations and Supply Chain.
- Collaborate on process improvements, controls, and SOX compliance for accurate inventory data.
- Analyze standard vs. actual costs (materials, labor, overhead) and resolve root causes.
- Develop cost methodologies for materials, labor, and overhead per GAAP.
- Support ERP/FP& A tool initiatives and ensure accurate NetSuite cost data.
- Drive financial aspects of product launch with focus on cost.
- Deliver high-value financial analysis to guide investments, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
- Identify and implement efficiencies in company-wide planning processes.
- Handle ad-hoc financial requests as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- 6+ years FP& A experience in biotech, diagnostics, or medical devices.
- Skilled in handling large datasets and building complex financial models.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach.
- Able to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail.
- Highly organized, disciplined, and data-focused.
- Experienced in building financial processes, reporting, and controls for scaling organizations.
- Self-starter with proven ability to drive results independently.
