Position Title College Composition, English, and/or Literacy Adjunct Faculty Pool

Summary This posting is for adjunct faculty who will teach college-level composition courses (ENGL 121), developmental writing and corequisite courses, literature, and information literacy (INFO 100) at Howard Community College. The courses collectively support students at all skill levels in reading, writing, research, and critical inquiry. The Department Head, Course Coordinators, and ENGL Program Manager will review applicants when a teaching need arises.

Essential Role Responsibilities

Prepare course materials and weekly lessons.

Maintain the Canvas course site.

Attend required faculty and staff meetings.

Complete necessary trainings.

Meet with students as needed.

Grade and assess student work.

Deliver quality instruction in both in‑class and online settings.

Fulfill all employment‑related requirements of the division and the college.

Minimum Education Required Master’s degree.

Preferred Experience

Master’s degree or higher in composition, creative writing, curriculum & instruction, English, literacy, literature, professional writing, or a related field.

Prior teaching experience (preferred).

Availability to teach in face‑to‑face and/or online classrooms.

Proficiency with Canvas LMS for course management.
