The Central Maintenance Planner plays an essential role in providing, planning, and scheduling of maintenance work activities and resources through coordination with Maintenance, Operations, Planning, and Production staff members. The role reports to the Engineering Supervisor.
Responsibilities
Prioritise safety, using the MOC process for new equipment or process changes.
Maintain regulatory records, participate in safety and food audits, and provide requested documentation.
Lead electrical safety, document and maintain training for required programs.
Assign personnel, material, and outside resources for preventive, predictive and reactive work.
Analyse machine performance, identify trends and use predictive tools to anticipate maintenance needs.
Manage and maintain the site CMMS as subject‑matter expert and trainer.
Develop and update equipment PMs as needed.
Actively participate in the Breakdown Analysis (BDA) program and drive action to reduce recurrence of breakdowns.
Create Purchase Orders and support the invoicing process using Ariba, VIM, SAP and related systems.
Engage in continuous improvement processes (LMS, Lipton Management System).
Operate a forklift and verti‑lift as necessary.
Partner with the maintenance supervisor and shift leadership on technician and machinist staffing and assignments.
Lead Permit to Work (PTW) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) processes.
Identify, implement and follow up on productivity improvements in parts spending, machine downtime, and labour (mechanical) expenditure.
Continuously improve maintenance performance levels in safety, output and quality.
Assist with plant trials and special projects as required.
Plan and execute overhaul and shutdown work.
Manage the Audit/Rebuild Programme, maintaining OEM audit/rebuild calendars.
Maintain equipment repair histories (e.g., MTBF, cost).
Generate site‑planned maintenance KPI reports.
Manage storeroom functions: inventories, replenishment, cycle counts and full‑physical counts.
Plan parts inventories for planned jobs and lead kitting area utilization.
Initiate improvement projects based on maintenance data reviews.
Maintain the site technical library.
Coordinate third‑party maintenance contracts and outside contractors for projects.
Lead and participate in the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) Program, 5‑S housekeeping and related needs.
Support internal and external audits (FSSC Food Safety, Industrial Safety, Physical Asset Inventory).
Complete any other assigned duties.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years as an Automation Technician.
Excellent interpersonal, organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret operating, maintenance, safety and procedural manuals.
Experience analysing and identifying trends in graphs and data tables, and making data‑driven decisions.
Basic experience with a CMMS.
Basic knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint; computer skills testing required.
Ability to work across departments and lead or participate in FI teams.
Compliance history with quality, safety and sanitation rules.
Ability to manage multiple high‑priority tasks accurately and meet deadlines.
Willingness to work off‑shifts and flexible hours if needed.
Must complete a RAMSAY assessment with a passing score (comprehensive Multicraft or Mechanical diagnostic).
