Job Description As a Fire Protection Engineer at GHD, you will lead and manage diverse projects, delivering high‑quality fire protection and life safety services. Your duties include preparing scopes of work, budgets, and proposals; overseeing fire alarm and sprinkler system designs; conducting building code reviews and smoke control modeling; serving as a trusted technical advisor to clients; collaborating with authorities having jurisdiction; mentoring junior staff; and shaping the future of GHD’s fire protection practice.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare scopes of work, budgets, and proposals for fire protection projects.
Oversee design and implementation of fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
Conduct building code reviews and smoke control modeling.
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients on fire safety matters.
Collaborate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
Mentor and develop junior staff.
Contribute to the growth and development of the fire protection practice.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection.
Minimum of 6 years of industry experience with fire protection system design and/or code consulting.
Expert knowledge of ICC codes, NFPA, and other relevant standards.
Preferred experience with fire modeling tools (e.g., FDS, CONTAM, Pathfinder, CFAST).
Ability to build positive relationships across diverse teams and client groups.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues concisely.
Salary Range $72,300 – $115,000 (based on experience & location).
Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level.
Employment Type Full‑time.
