Overview
Join GHD as a Licensed Fire Protection Engineer to contribute to the expanding Northeast Fire Protection & Life Safety group. This role is for a licensed professional with deep expertise in fire protection engineering principles, system design, code consulting, and project management. Responsibilities
Lead and manage diverse projects, preparing scopes of work, budgets, and proposals.
Oversee fire alarm and sprinkler system designs and conduct building code reviews.
Perform smoke control modeling and serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients.
Collaborate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction, mentor junior staff, and shape the future of our fire protection practice.
Deliver high‑quality fire protection and life safety services, ensuring compliance with code and client requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection.
At least 6 years of industry experience with fire protection system design and / or code consulting.
Expert knowledge of ICC codes and NFPA and other relevant standards.
Preferred experience with fire modeling (e.g., FDS, CONTAM, Pathfinder, CFAST).
Proven ability to build positive relationships across diverse teams and client groups.
Robust written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely.
