SUMMARY: To provide counseling in a group and individual setting to promote stability and improvement for individuals struggling with mental health/substance use illnesses. Responsibilities
Demonstrates understanding of Hospital’s Mission, Vision and Values.
Demonstrates understanding of job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment plan.
Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to our Customer Service Standards.
Complies with department and hospital policies and procedures.
Completes mandatory education.
Participates in, or leads, departmental and / or interdepartmental committees or quality improvement teams.
Maintains confidentiality of records relating to patient care according to HIPPA and Brown University Health policies.
Facilitates group and individual counseling sessions designed to promote improved stability, functioning, and recovery from mental healthddiction challenges
Participates in group development and interventions designed to meet the treatment needs of patients
Guides clients in the development of coping skills and strategies to deal with stressors and life issues
Provides encouragement to patients to allow for disclosure , insight,and understanding of life stressors and issues
Acts as an advocate to help coordinate services and information that might impact patient well being or emotional stability
Collects information about patients through, therapeutic involvement and observation that may be relevant for treatment
Prepares and maintain all required notes, treatment records and reports
Participates with the multidisciplinary treatment team to develop a treatment plan for each individual patient
Attends team rounds, treatment team meetings and other relevant meetings around program planning
Demonstrates knowledge of computer skills and uses these skills, as appropriate.
Collaborates with medical staff, Hospital and Department staff, and community agencies to provide a seamless continuum of care for the patient.
Documents on the medical record in accordance with Department policy.
Enhances professional skills through continuing education and participation in clinical supervision, as needed.
Demonstrates knowledge of all applicable community, state and federal programs.
Participates in Utilization Review functions as it pertains to psychiatric authorizations
Ensures all departmental forms/statistics are completed on time.
Supervises, as assigned, graduate and undergraduate field placement students.
As appropriate, in-services community groups and staff on health / mental health related topics.
Performs other duties as assigned by the BHU Nurse Manager
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in a mental health related field.
LMHC or LMFT license required.
Minimum 2 years post-Masters experience in mental health setting preferred.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for 3-7 hours a day and stand or walk for 1-3 hours a day. Must be able to use both hands, including right/left/either, and perform work with slight deviation from neutral wrist position. Must have accurate near vision, far vision is minimally required. Must be able to hear a whisper at 3 ft.
Pay Range
$66,397.24-$109,529.06
