Summary
The Open‑Heart Surgery Program at Rhode Island Hospital is seeking experienced Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to join our Cardiac Surgery team.
Our dedicated PAs and NPs provide comprehensive care, including pre‑operative assessment, intra‑operative first‑assist, conduit harvesting, and post‑operative management from the ICU through discharge.
The ideal candidate has at least two years of critical care experience and is proficient in pre‑ and post‑operative ICU and step‑down management of complex surgical patients.
Cardiac surgical critical care experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Pre‑operative assessment and intra‑operative first‑assist for cardiac surgery patients.
Perform open and endoscopic conduit harvesting.
Post‑operative management from the ICU through discharge.
Schedule: 12‑hour or 24‑hour per‑diem ICU shifts with rotating weekends, holidays, and nights.
Maintain high level of analytic ability and work with significant clinical autonomy.
Minimum Qualifications
Physician Assistants: accredited PA program graduate with current NCCPA certification.
Nurse Practitioners: accredited NP program graduate, certified by ANCC or AANP.
State licensure (Rhode Island) for PA or NP.
Eligible for a Federal DEA certificate.
Completed BLS/CLS courses within the last two years.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; computer literacy and EMR documentation proficiency.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
