Role Description
The Senior Director, Strategy will be a key member of the agency’s strategy team, responsible for elevating our strategic product, inspiring world‑class creative work, and driving growth across key accounts and new business. You will partner closely with the creative, account, and production teams to ensure our ideas are rooted in strong insights, brand truth, and cultural relevance. You are a creative thinker who helps clients understand their strategic priorities, create ongoing value, and expand relationships by delivering exceptional work that positions them as leaders in their spaces. Having a deep understanding of brand strategy, along with social and influencer experience is required.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the world of beauty, fashion and luxury, understands how to build brands that people love, and can inspire both clients and internal teams through a clear, provocative point of view. You are a compassionate and innovative leader who inspires a team, but will also be required to develop and execute strategic outputs.
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee, develop and approve strategic deliverables – from creative briefs, to final presentations and program executions.
Serve as the senior strategic voice in client relationships, earning trust as both a brand partner and business advisor.
Lead the strategic development process across major accounts — from brand positioning and campaign architecture to go‑to‑market strategy.
Drive qualitative and quantitative market research, distilling breakthrough cultural, behavioral, and category insights that drive relevance in the luxury, beauty, and fashion spaces.
Inspire the strategy & creative teams to develop innovative and best‑in‑class work for brand, social and influencer strategy creation, that is rooted in deep consumer insights.
Collaborate with clients as well as internal account and creative team members to ensure that all agency outputs deliver on brand objectives and meet internal quality standards.
Lead overarching brainstorms, pitches, strategy workshops and original research for new business and organic growth opportunities.
Work to ensure suitable tools and metrics exist to track and measure strategic team goals and objectives.
Work closely with senior leaders and CEO to identify, analyze and evaluate strategies and initiatives that will result in significant top and bottom‑line growth for the agency.
Advance and articulate thought leadership that carves out a distinct POV in the agency landscape.
Supervisory Duties
Manage the strategy team – oversee the team to ensure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules across the board.
Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
Manage ongoing resourcing needs (full time vs. freelance).
Conduct interviews, identify successful candidates, support new team member onboarding, oversee 90‑day success plan within probationary period, manage the exit process for departing employees within the Strategy department.
Required Skills & Abilities
Must be able to distill creative insights and industry trends into the development of compelling brand strategies and communications that resonate with clients’ target audiences.
Proven ability to guide the development of, build and deliver compelling presentations to both clients and internal teams.
Experience leading the integration and development of strategic processes.
Must have a strong working relationship with creatives and can ‘speak their language’.
Confident communication and presentation skills (including new business pitches).
Must be personable, creative, flexible, resilient and eager to do great work in a collaborative setting.
Passion and empathy for the consumer's perspective and identifying new trends.
Self‑starting drive to take on challenging internal and client initiatives.
Must be able to build strong relationships, advising and collaborating with inter‑agency leadership, internal teams and client contacts.
Outstanding leadership and team‑building skills, with a proven ability to mentor and manage effectively while boosting morale.
Education & Experience
10+ years of work experience developing comprehensive marketing and brand strategies across the digital and social spaces; experiential and agency preferred.
7+ years managing and mentoring a team.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, psychology, sociology/anthropology, communications or related field.
