Electrical Chief Estimator

to join their Dallas, Texas team! Our client is an established national electrical contractor with locations in Florida, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

Position Overview Join a leading electrical contractor as our

Chief Estimator,

where you’ll play a pivotal role in driving our preconstruction strategy and shaping the future of our most complex, high-profile projects.

Position Responsibilities

Manage, develop, and mentor estimators and support staff; assign estimating workloads; and ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to departmental standards.

Conduct thorough review of all bids and estimates prior to submission—verifying assumptions, scope coverage, pricing, contingencies, and completeness.

Develop and enforce estimating procedures, update cost databases, manage estimating software tools, and analyze historical cost trends for better accuracy over time.

Advise senior leadership on what projects to bid, pricing strategies, risk assessment, margin goals, and resource allocation.

Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors and subcontractors, solicit competitive pricing, evaluate proposals, and ensure that supplier input integrates into final estimates.

Collaborate with other estimators, subcontractors, project managers, branch managers, and design engineers to assist in the design process, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and project goals.

Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates for electrical construction projects based on preliminary plans, specifications, and design documents.

Evaluate project requirements, scope, and specifications to provide cost‑effective solutions.

Assist in value engineering efforts to improve project outcomes while maintaining quality and performance standards.

Review and analyze drawings, blueprints, and other documents to determine material and labor requirements.

Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure accurate estimates.

Maintain and update cost databases, pricing, and project historical data. Provide input during the proposal phase, offering insights to enhance project competitiveness.

Participate in project meetings and discussions with clients, ensuring clear communication regarding project budgets and expectations.

Position Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent experience.

8+ years of experience in electrical construction estimating, design assist, or related field.

Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction methodologies.

Proficiency in estimating software (Accubid, McCormick, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Ability to interpret and analyze engineering drawings and specifications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and time‑management abilities.

Experience with value engineering and cost‑saving analysis.
