Position Overview The Sr Principal Engineer Systems Architect will be part of the C2BMC program, working across Missile Defense and Space divisions. The candidate will help define the operational, physical, functional, and technical architecture for evolving C2BMC systems, ensuring interoperability with Commercial Off‑The‑Shelf (COTS) and Government Off‑The‑Shelf (GOTS) components.
Essential Functions
Analyze high‑level requirements with a structured approach and develop system architecture solutions for new and emerging capabilities in collaboration with lead Systems Architect, software, network, and cyber architects.
Communicate and collaborate with software developers, network engineers, cyber engineers, DevSecOps teams, infrastructure teams, test teams, and deployment teams to create both physical and logical architectures across the system.
Collaborate with project leads, product owners, and MDA customers.
Present architecture concepts to diverse audiences and serve as the primary contact for System Architecture during development, testing, and deployment.
Document or review architecture using MBSE tools such as CAMEO.
Stay informed about current and emerging technologies and design methodologies relevant to DoD Command and Control systems and COTS/FOSS IT products.
Basic Qualifications
Current, active DoD‑issued Secret security clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field with at least 8 years of experience; or Master’s degree preferred with 6 years of experience; or PhD with 4 years of experience.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts clearly to a diverse group of engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
Systems Engineering or Architecture experience with Testing on a DoD program.
Desire to become a Systems Architect on a complex Command and Control DoD project.
At least two of the following skill sets:
Over two years experience with C2BMC or similar complex DoD Command and Control systems.
Experience designing new system architecture concepts and solutions.
Experience in IT, Computer Science, Software, or Networking within collaborative teams for DoD programs.
Technical lead or SME experience in Missile Defense, Space, or Link 16 domains.
Experience designing systems with existing or COTS/GOTS components for DoD interoperability.
Proficiency in creating architecture documents: Specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.
Experience preparing briefings, reviewing architecture designs, and presenting at DoD Customer Design Reviews.
Knowledge of private cloud solutions and IT technologies (VMware, Nutanix, RedHat, networking).
Familiarity with DevSecOps, Digital Engineering Transformation methodologies, Agile methods, and MBSE practices.
Experience with requirements management tools like DOORS.
Salary Colorado Springs: $124,900 – $187,300 Huntsville: $131,100 – $196,700
