Assistant Director of Child Support Services
The County of El Dorado is seeking an Assistant Director of Child Support Services to assist the Director in planning, directing, and coordinating the Department’s programs. The role will act on behalf of the Director during absences and involve budgeting, personnel management, legislative analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and representation to the Board of Supervisors and community agencies.
Responsibilities
Assist the Director in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and programs for the Department; prepare and administer program budgets.
Plan, direct, coordinate, and review work plans for subordinate staff; assign activities, review work, meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
Review and analyze legislation, regulations, and directives to determine impact on program goals and compliance with county, state, and federal rules.
Recommend personnel appointments; coordinate staff training; conduct performance evaluations; implement discipline procedures.
Monitor and evaluate service delivery efficiency and effectiveness; recommend staffing and service levels.
Prepare resolutions for the Board of Supervisors; represent the department before the Board, governmental agencies, and community groups.
Work collaboratively with county departments, community agencies, and other public and private jurisdictions to develop effective working relationships.
Oversee the department in the absence of the Director of Child Support Services.
Qualifications
Four (4) years of advanced experience in child support services at the state or county level, including at least three (3) years of supervisory or management experience over staff and functions.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university in business, public administration, psychology, sociology, social services, or a closely related field.
Experience developing and implementing policy, managing complex budgets, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Strong communication, collaboration, and decision‑making skills in a dynamic, regulated environment.
Valid California or Nevada driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
