Department Information This position is located at the Cal Center Regional office in Sacramento, CA. DTSC is a member of the boards, departments, and offices (BDO) within the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA). Job Description And Duties Do you want to work toward building healthy, safe, and economically viable communities? Are you driven by protecting the environment and health of all Californians? DTSC seeks a highly motivated, adaptable self‑starter with excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.

Plan, organize, direct, and provide supervisory review of the Cost Recovery Unit.

Provide regular and timely written performance appraisals to staff.

Counsel staff and initiate disciplinary actions as necessary.

Recruit, hire, supervise, train, develop, and provide leadership to staff.

Comply with state and federal laws, rules, regulations, bargaining unit contracts and policies in all personnel practices.

Identify appropriate long‑range plans and goals to address succession planning and knowledge transfer.

Desirable Qualifications We Look For

Ability to exercise initiative, good judgment, honesty, and make timely decisions while maintaining positive and trusting working relationships.

Ability to plan, organize, communicate, and adapt to changing assignments and priorities, and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.

Experience leading and facilitating large meetings and using strong verbal and written communication skills to present information to all levels of stakeholders.

Knowledge or willingness to learn DTSC organization, SMRP Programs, federal and state program areas, business operations, and processes.

Experience gathering, identifying, analyzing, reading and interpreting data from surveys and evaluations.

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, MS Teams, Visio, SharePoint, and data visualization tools such as GIS and Tableau.

Familiarity with state and government programs and policies across multiple sectors.
