The Role The
Quality Control Architect
serves as the firm’s technical leader, responsible for maintaining design integrity, code compliance, and documentation accuracy throughout all phases of a project. This role develops and enforces firmwide quality standards, leads peer reviews, mentors project teams, and ensures every drawing set reflects the highest professional standards.
Working closely with Project Managers, Design Principals, and technical staff, this position helps streamline workflows, reduce risk, and continuously enhance the firm’s technical performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage
quality control reviews
from schematic design through construction documents
Establish and maintain
QA/QC standards, protocols, and checklists
for the firm
Review drawings for coordination, constructability, and compliance with codes and client requirements
Collaborate with project teams to resolve design and technical issues early in the process
Mentor staff in documentation standards and technical best practices
Identify opportunities for
process improvement
and implement new systems to enhance efficiency
Ensure quality and consistency across multiple project types and offices
Stay current with building codes, accessibility standards, and construction technologies
Partner with firm leadership to advance
BIM/Revit quality standards
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
in Architecture from an accredited program
10+ years
of architectural experience, with strong technical and documentation expertise
Experience across multiple sectors, including
commercial, hospitality, multifamily, healthcare, and retail
Architectural licensure
preferred (or in progress)
Proficiency in
Revit
and working knowledge of
AutoCAD
Strong knowledge of building codes, construction systems, and detailing
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse project teams
