Overview
The
Lead Superintendent
is responsible for the successful field execution and delivery of complex, ground-up municipal construction projects valued at approximately
$30 million . This position provides leadership to field staff, trade partners, and subcontractors to ensure that projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Lead Superintendent is the companys on-site representative and the primary point of coordination for all construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution Oversee all field construction activities from site mobilization through project closeout. Develop and maintain detailed
three-week and master construction schedules
in coordination with project management. Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and submittals to ensure work is performed in compliance with design intent and contract documents. Coordinate sequencing of work, material deliveries, and inspections to maintain project flow and mitigate delays. Lead daily and weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors, design teams, and owners.
Safety & Compliance Enforce strict adherence to company and OSHA safety standards, leading by example to maintain a
zero-incident
jobsite. Conduct daily safety briefings, inspections, and incident investigations as necessary. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, as well as municipal regulations and reporting requirements.
Leadership & Communication Supervise and mentor Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and other field staff. Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors. Act as the on-site representative for the company, managing communication between the field and office teams.
Quality Control Implement and maintain the projects
Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC)
program. Verify materials and workmanship meet or exceed contract requirements. Conduct regular punch list walks and oversee completion of corrective actions.
Budget & Documentation Monitor labor, equipment, and material costs to ensure adherence to the project budget. Review and approve subcontractor billings, change orders, and daily reports. Maintain detailed project documentation, including daily logs, photos, RFI tracking, and inspection records.
Qualifications Minimum 1015 years
of experience in commercial construction with at least
5 years as a Lead Superintendent
on projects over
$20M , preferably municipal or institutional (e.g., civic centers, police/fire stations, libraries, schools). Proven track record of delivering complex
ground-up structures
(steel, concrete, or hybrid systems). Strong knowledge of
construction means and methods , scheduling (Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar), and project management software (Procore, CMiC, etc.).
