This position is eligible for

Pay:

Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off:

Duties This position is available for a psychiatrist with expertise and experience in the assessment and management of a wide range of psychiatric disorders. The psychiatrist will function as a highly skilled, independent provider in the management of patients with behavioral health problems within the outpatient program. Responsibilities include providing psychiatric care in an outpatient psychiatry clinic with minimal on-call responsibilities as well as contributing to the academic mission of the service. Some clinics have both evening and Saturday hours. There are some opportunities to be involved in our education or research programs. The Philadelphia VA Medical Center is an affiliate hospital to the University of Pennsylvania and a site for medical student and graduate education. The Philadelphia VA Medical Center has a strong research program in mental health.

The ideal candidate will have expertise and experience in psychiatric assessment and management of patients with a variety of psychiatric conditions including Serious Mental Illness (SMI), addictions, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and should have experience, preference and skill set for working in an interdisciplinary team environment. Staff psychiatrists are ultimately responsible for all aspects of psychiatric care for patients treated within a multidisciplinary team. Support for research projects/researchers (e.g. clinic trials, neuroimaging studies) is encouraged.
