SUE Technician II WSP is searching for a SUE Technician II to work out of our Altamonte Springs, FL office and support our Southeast Region Geospatial / Surveying Team.

This role is part of a team conducting Subsurface Utility Engineering of all levels and offers ongoing training, mentoring, and promotional opportunities.

Your Impact

Assist with development and maintenance of site safety plans.

Create a culture of safety by observing and complying with all company and related safety rules.

Assist SUE Analyst with day‑to‑day duties.

Grow abilities in operating EM and GPR utility locating equipment.

Ensure assigned SUE field project tasks and data collection are quality, accurate, and thorough.

Communicate with office staff on project progress, needs, and equipment requirements.

Engage in occasional contact with client personnel to schedule and coordinate project activities.

Operate vacuum excavation equipment independently of Analyst at times.

Drive and operate company vehicles.

Develop abilities to lead crew.

Remain current in and learn of latest SUE/survey knowledge, techniques, and practices.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are / Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

At least 2 years of experience in the SUE industry.

Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.

Willingness to learn, analytical, detail oriented, goal‑driven, problem solver, self‑lead.

Excellent communication skills.

Partial ability and willingness to learn how to use EM and GPR locating equipment.

Familiar with operation of vacuum excavation equipment.

Willingness to work with vacuum excavation equipment.

Partial ability and willingness to learn to read utility as‑built/schematic records.

Ability to operate or willingness to learn operation of conventional and GPS survey equipment.

Ability to traverse terrain, as project dictates, in all seasons.

Ability to lift up to 100 lbs or work as a team to do so.

Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR.

Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.

Willingness to work occasional overtime as project timeline dictates.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
