Assistant Professor of Microbiology

Kennesaw State University is a large R2 research institution in Georgia. The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology offers undergraduate and graduate programs and is currently seeking a full‑time, tenure‑track Faculty Member for the position of Assistant Professor of Microbiology, with a preferred start date of August 2025.
Responsibilities
Establish an independent, productive, and sustainable research program in medical microbiology, exemplified by peer‑reviewed publications and extramural funding.
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Teach undergraduate courses in microbiology and biology, and develop graduate courses integrating microbiology with other biological subdisciplines.
Commit to teaching excellence that promotes student success among the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) disciplines and invests in KSU students.
Participate in professional service within the Department, the College, the University and beyond.
Required Qualifications
A terminal (Doctoral/Ph.D.) degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
A strong record of peer‑reviewed publications in microbiology.
Postdoctoral research experience in microbiology or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of current or previous external funding.
Previous experience teaching biology courses and labs in the university setting and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
