Overview Kennesaw State University is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychological Science with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position. The area of specialization is Cognitive Psychology or Cognitive Science with a focus on AI Research, and all areas of focus within that specialization. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia. This is one of four faculty hiring lines across multiple disciplines in the Radow College that will focus on pressing issues in the use of AI.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate a record of impactful research and teaching excellence.
Teach courses in their area of specialization and courses that are part of the required core in the psychology major.
Teach courses of variable modality and sizes, including large class sizes.
The standard teaching load for research-intensive faculty is 6 credit hours (i.e., 2 courses) per semester, with the load being negotiable depending on research intensity.
Faculty on a research-intensive workload are expected to engage in programmatic research that results in publications in refereed journals and to secure extramural funding.
A strong commitment to undergraduate education and mentorship is essential.
Service to the Department, College, University, and/or profession.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Qualifications
Required:
A Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Psychology or a related discipline is required at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Specialization in Cognitive Psychology or Cognitive Science with an emphasis on artificial intelligence.
Ability to teach courses related to the specialization (e.g., cognitive psychology, perception, biological psychology), in addition to research methods and statistics.
Knowledge and skills for researching and designing human interaction with artificial intelligence and robotic systems.
Demonstrated teaching effectiveness at the university level and evidence of promoting student success.
Effectiveness in teaching in different modalities (face-to-face, online, hybrid) and class sizes, including large classes.
Effectiveness in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Effectiveness in publishing scholarship in reputable outlets.
Experience or potential in securing external funding.
