The Data Analyst will:

Support the Behavioral Health Services Division (BHSD) with reporting and analyzing trends specific to Medicaid and non-Medicaid programs; Monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual reports along with providing research and analysis to support the division with detailed information on program efficacy; Align reports to required monitoring protocols from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) or other federal partners which are associated with serious mental illness (SMI), severe emotions disturbance (SEO), and serious substance use disorder (SUD) conditions amongst beneficiaries of New Mexico's behavioral health programs. How does it get done?

The Data Analyst is responsible for:

Providing technical and non-technical expertise on reporting metrics and follow guidelines as outlined by federal partners and their reporting stewards such as the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA); Working closely with subject matter experts within BHSD and partner agencies to determine trends, provide research and analysis based on output reports and information from agency vendors; Tracking & trending results along with obtaining information from subject matter experts to support all related analysis associated with reporting requirements from CMS, SAMHSA, or other federal partners. The ideal candidate has experience including:

Analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data and applying findings in an accurate manner; Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel experience, experience with Microsoft Access; Understanding of relational database structures; Structured Query Language (SQL) coding; Developing, reviewing, and communicating technical comprehensive findings; Developing of written summaries based on data trends and analysis; The understanding of federal reporting.

Minimum Qualification

High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience directly related to the position in providing GIS support, research, statistics, computer science, data analysis, accounting, auditing, finance, economics, business, public administration, budgeting, management, and/or systems analysis or related professional certification as determined by the hiring agency. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Working Conditions

Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting.
