The Department of Economics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland seeks faculty candidates beginning in Fall 2026. We invite faculty for all ranks and all areas of specialization and will likely prioritize candidates for two endowed positions: (1) the Aronson Family Professorship in Economics, which seeks applicants with expertise in healthcare economics and healthcare policy or the economics of cities, and (2) the Steven M. Kaye Professor of Economics, which prioritizes applicants whose research focuses on health economics, urban economics, the economics of inequality, labor economics, or public economics more generally.

All appointees at the Associate and Full Professor level are expected to be preeminent experts in their field. All candidates should be committed to both research and teaching excellence. All appointees are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level. Applications should include a cover letter, CV, and recent papers.

The expected academic base salary range for an Associate or Full professor position is: $240,000 - $437,000.

The referenced salary range is based on Johns Hopkins University’s good faith belief at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will be based on factors including, but not limited to, the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate such as years in rank, training, field, discipline, and other work experience, geographic location, internal equity, external market conditions, and other factors as reasonably determined by the University.
