General Description The Department of Economics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland seeks faculty candidates beginning in Fall 2026. We invite faculty for all ranks and all areas of specialization and will likely prioritize candidates for two endowed positions: (1) the Aronson Family Professorship in Economics seeks applicants with expertise in healthcare economics and healthcare policy, or the economics of cities, and (2) the Steven M. Kaye Professorship of Economics will prioritize applicants whose research focuses on health economics, urban economics, the economics of inequality, labor economics, or public economics more generally.
Responsibilities and Expectations
All appointees at the Associate and Full Professor level are expected to be preeminent experts in their field.
All candidates should be committed to both research and teaching excellence.
All appointees are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Salary Range The referenced salary range for an Associate or Full professor position is: $240,000 – $437,000. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, external market conditions, and other reasonable considerations.
Vaccine Requirements Johns Hopkins University strongly encourages, but no longer requires, at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The COVID-19 vaccine does not apply to positions located in the State of Florida. We still require all faculty, staff, and students to receive the seasonal flu vaccine. Exceptions to the COVID and flu vaccine requirements may be provided to individuals for religious beliefs or medical reasons.
