WHAT YOU'LL DO: As a Billing Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of all billing functions. Your responsibilities include reviewing and preparing insurance claims, verifying patient eligibility, and ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, workers’ compensation, and other payer requirements. You will handle claim edits, resolve denials or rejections, and submit appeals with proper documentation, while maintaining thorough records of claim activity and accounts receivable. This position also requires clear communication with insurance companies, patients, and internal staff, as well as applying knowledge of CPT, ICD‑10, and HCPCS coding systems. In addition, you will stay current on billing regulations and HIPAA compliance, prepare reports as needed, and support program operations, including urinalysis monitoring, while adhering to agency policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE: To be successful as a Billing Specialist, you should bring a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities. Experience with billing software, claim submission platforms, and medical terminology—including CPT, ICD‑10, and HCPCS coding—is essential. You’ll need to be comfortable managing record‑keeping systems and learning new databases, while accurately typing and proofing work. Strong organizational skills, problem‑solving abilities, and the capacity to handle multiple tasks under deadlines are key. Just as important, you should demonstrate professionalism in phone and in‑person interactions, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and manage challenging or hostile situations with patience and professionalism.
