We are looking for a motivated, experienced

Certified Medical Coder | Physician Practice Complex Coder with 3+ years of Cardiology Complex Coding experience

(ideally Surgical Cardiology). This position requires

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) in active status

(this position requires more than an apprentice CPC-A) with a recent/consistent coding work history of 3 years or more.

Requirements:

3 years recent experience in Cardiology Profee EM coding (as reflected in your attached resume)

Surgical Cardiology experience preferred

Must be currently certified through AAPC or AHIMA, as defined in minimum qualifications. Please upload a copy or provide certification number in your questionnaire. This is a COMPLEX role, requiring more than a CPC-A level certification.

The hours are flexible with the ability to work an 8-hour shift between 5am-7pm (Monday-Friday). This is a fully remote position and available if you live in the following states only: AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI & WY.

Position Summary This position evaluates medical records, provides clinical and surgical abstraction for complex and multispecialty services in accordance with coding guidelines. Use coding knowledge to support department projects, validation edits and revisions.

Core Functions

Analyzes medical information and accurately codes diagnostic and procedural information per national guidelines. Consults with medical providers to clarify records and determine appropriate codes. Codes ICD-CM and CPT-4 for accurate APC assignment. Addresses NCCI edits. Reconciliation of charges as required.

Abstracts clinical diagnoses and documents information into the EMR. Seeks missing information and creates complete records with proper signatures/authorizations.

Provides quality assurance for medical records and ensures compliance with coding rules and regulations.

Maintains daily/monthly reports and data for research or analysis as assigned.

Identifies validation edits and revision issues to ensure compliant coding.

Recognizes complex diagnoses/procedures and makes corrections to ensure accurate coding and reimbursement. Works independently under regular supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent with formal training; or Associate’s degree in a related health care field.

Active certification: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT with AHIMA or AAPC (specialty certification may also apply).

Three or more years of complex professional coding experience within the specialty.

Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles as per AHIMA/AAPC competencies.

Ability to work effectively in a remote setting using standard office programs and coding software.

Preferred Qualifications

Radiology Certified Coder (RCC) if employed in the Imaging space.

Experience in a large multi-system physician practice (preferred).

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
