Job Overview

Position: Research Coordinator 2 in the Bjornstad Laboratory, housed within the UW Medicine Diabetes Institute at the UW South Lake Union campus. The Bjornstad laboratory focuses on metabolic and hemodynamic mechanisms underlying the development of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and obesity. As a UW employee, you will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with the Principal Investigator, Co-Investigators, Research Manager, Lead Research Coordinator, other Research Coordinators, collaborators, and study stakeholders to execute research studies. Base pay

$56,832.00/yr - $69,600.00/yr Position Details

Location: UW Diabetes Institute, F Building; reports to the Research Manager and Lead Research Coordinator. This is a regular, full-time position (FTE 100%). Duties And Responsibilities

Protocol Management - 50% With minimal guidance implement research project procedures that meet objectives and ensure compliance with institutional and federal regulations. Manage all aspects of multiple clinical trials, including patient recruitment and management, data collection and management, and study administration. Data & Patient Management – 30% Facilitate and track study visits, tests, and procedures per protocol; ensure billing compliance and accurate data collection (informed consent forms and source documentation). Communication & Administration – 20% Maintain knowledge of each protocol, communicate with industry sponsors, physicians, and patients; independently manage multiple projects with timelines and prioritization. Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Public Health or related field AND two years of relevant clinical research experience. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications, except where legal requirements apply (e.g., license, certification, registration). Additional Requirements

At least two years of experience in an academic research environment, clinical research, or related fields; knowledge of research involving human subjects and data collection. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; multitasking and adaptability with professional demeanor. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time-management abilities. Desired Qualifications

Experience in a clinical research or healthcare setting; ability to manage multiple studies, timelines, and documentation. Understanding of clinical research methodologies, GCP, IRB processes; knowledge of regulatory frameworks (FDA, ICH, HIPAA). Familiarity with EPIC/ORCA/MINDSCAPE/MAX/LIS systems; proficiency in REDCap, EDC systems, and Microsoft Office. Clinical research certification (e.g., CCRC, CCRP) preferred but not required. Conditions Of Employment

Office and participant visit location in the UW Diabetes Institute F Building. May require climbing stairs to access office location. Flexibility to adjust work schedule to meet program needs. Ability to travel to meetings off site. Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
