At our Vetco Total Care Full Service Veterinary Hospitals, the veterinarian position is the most immersive role in the hospital. Our veterinarians are supported by quality equipment, experienced leaders and a paraprofessional team. You will help lead your team through the next generation of full-service veterinary care. Responsibilities
Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care according to patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment. Utilize a problem-based approach with a complete problem list, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plan, and appropriate treatments based on test results. Document observations, exam findings, diagnostics, treatments, medications, client interactions, and diagnoses in the medical record. Perform routine and complex surgical procedures including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratories, and mass removals. Perform routine and complex dental procedures including full dental examinations, radiograph evaluation, and extractions. Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization and transition to overnight care as needed; communicate with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care. Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school. Active veterinary licensure in the state or ability to obtain by start date. Current DEA license and, if applicable, Current Controlled Substance License. USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date. Experience with anesthesia and routine surgeries (canine and feline spays/neuters, mass removals, dentals). Excellent written and verbal communication skills; compassionate and professional demeanor under stressful situations. Telephone and computer skills; ability to work as part of a collaborative team and adapt to new techniques. Work Environment
The majority of duties are conducted in the Vetco Total Care veterinary hospital. The role requires physical activity such as bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods. Significant client and patient interaction is expected. Equal Opportunity
