Hartford HealthCare’s Heart & Vascular Institute seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Department of Cardiac Surgery. Full-time 3x13s, rotating. Premium differentials offered. Call schedule: No call. Responsibilities
Deliver expert, compassionate care as a vital member of the Cardiac Surgery team in the 18-bed Cardiac Surgery ICU, step-down unit, and floor settings. Responsibilities include: Manage preoperative and postoperative care for cardiac surgery patients. Perform bedside procedures including central venous and arterial line placement, intra-aortic balloon pump removal, and related tasks. Provide care for patients undergoing advanced procedures, including heart transplants, ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and closely monitor progress. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes through teamwork and clear communication. Support seamless transitions of care between the ICU, step-down, and floor settings. Provide patient and family education, ensuring clear understanding of the surgical process and recovery journey. Schedule includes day/night/weekend/holiday rotation; permanent night positions are available with premium night/weekend differentials. Qualifications
Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (APRN), preferably with 1+ years of relevant experience in cardiac surgery, critical care, or surgical settings. New graduates are welcome to apply. Eligible for licensure in the state of Connecticut. Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills.
