The Opportunity As the Associate Vice President, Campaign and Development you will provide leadership, strategy and be responsible for the successful implementation of campaign efforts and oversight of assigned units within the Washington State University Foundation (WSUF).
This position serves as WSUF’s Campaign Director, creating philanthropic strategies and campaign plans, managing campaign committees, and partnering with staff, alumni and external constituents to fulfill campaign goals.
In partnership with top leadership, you will create a strategic plan that includes ambitious and realistic goal‑setting for campaign/fundraising, and plan for the establishment of programs for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of top‑tier prospects in support of the University’s comprehensive campaign. This is a management position that, in addition to leading the campaign, will also supervise staff directly, make hiring decisions, provide coaching, training and mentoring, manage performance and determine future staffing needs.
In this role you will serve as a member of the WSU Advancement Leadership Team with responsibilities including: optimization of campaign strategy through participation on cross‑functional project teams within WSU Advancement.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime exempt.

Monthly Salary:
$14,584 - $19,583 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications
Positions require a Master’s Degree in a related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of related professional experience in a fundraising/development unit or department within a complex organization, with preference given to experience in a higher education setting. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.
Expert knowledge of current and evolving trends in the areas of higher education fundraising, large‑scale campaigns, annual giving, communications and marketing, and donor relations and stewardship.
Experience working on campaigns of $1 billion or greater.
Seven (7) years or more of experience managing advancement teams.
Deep appreciation and understanding of the academic enterprise and the ability to articulate academic values internally and externally.
Understanding of proposal development and writing, fundraising principles and techniques; project management skills; and relevant event planning.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to establish and maintain internal and external relationships.
Proven experience motivating and managing individuals and teams for maximum performance.
Proven ability to support employee inclusion and professional development.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with
SPPM 7.10
and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within a complex academic environment, such as a large state University with multiple colleges, campuses and programs.
