Responsibilities

Develop and implement one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.

Tailor and incorporate range safety requirements into design and procedures.

Perform MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses (management, analysis, evaluation, and verification).

Analyze hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics for fault tolerance and safety compliance.

Collaborate with product teams to eliminate hazards or implement effective controls.

Coordinate with customer safety representatives; clarify system requirements for software, hardware, and test personnel; ensure proper allocation across development teams.

Collaborate with Program Management and government authorities from startup through production and disposal.

Conduct System Safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analyses; brief safety considerations at technical reviews and during the safety approval process.

Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards; prepare internal and customer reports on analyses.

Work across disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design; interface with Systems, Electrical, Software/Firmware, and Hardware Engineering.

Manage System Safety Working Groups with Raytheon and Customer representatives.

This position is posted as onsite and will be based at Raytheon’s Tucson, AZ location.

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant Systems/Electrical/Computer/Software/Safety Engineering experience (advanced degree may account for additional experience).

Experience with System Safety Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, or equivalent Safety Engineering.

Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship required for clearance eligibility.

Qualifications We Prefer

Experience with DoD System Safety Programs (e.g., MIL-STD-882).

Experience in electrical systems and/or weapon combat systems.

Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, and System Safety Working Groups.

Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development.

Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret or Secret SCI Clearance.
