Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Electrical Engineer to oversee and lead the electrical design, installation, and commissioning of large-scale Data Center construction projects. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in power distribution, backup power systems, lighting, grounding, and electrical infrastructure specific to Data Centers. This role demands strong leadership, project management, and technical skills to ensure delivery of reliable, efficient, and code-compliant electrical systems. Base pay range

$225,000.00/yr - $240,000.00/yr Responsibilities

Lead the electrical engineering team through all phases of Data Center construction projects, from design to commissioning. Develop and review electrical design documents, including single-line diagrams, load calculations, power distribution layouts, lighting plans, and grounding systems tailored for Data Centers. Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, civil engineers, and contractors to integrate electrical systems seamlessly. Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, NFPA 70, ANSI/TIA-942, local regulations). Manage procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of critical electrical equipment such as UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, PDUs, and lighting controls. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans for electrical system reliability and safety. Perform site inspections and supervise installation work to ensure quality and adherence to design specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical engineering issues during construction and startup phases. Lead technical meetings, prepare reports, and communicate progress to stakeholders. Mentor junior engineers and coordinate external consultants or subcontractors. Stay updated on emerging electrical technologies and best practices in Data Center design and construction. Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred). Professional Engineering (PE) license is highly desirable. Minimum 8-10 years of experience in electrical engineering for construction projects, with at least 5 years in Data Center environments. Strong knowledge of Data Center power infrastructure including UPS, generators, switchgear, power distribution units (PDUs), ATS, grounding, and surge protection. Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, ANSI/TIA-942). Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on large-scale construction projects. Proficiency with electrical design software (AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or similar). Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills. Willingness to travel to construction sites as needed. Preferred

Experience with Tier-rated Data Centers. Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability practices in Data Centers. Experience with commissioning and startup of electrical systems.
