Relationship Builder | Legal Recruiting Specialist | Strong Focus with Legal Professionals in the New England Area Legal Assistant – Portsmouth, NH A well-established Portsmouth law firm is seeking a Legal Assistant to support our attorneys and help keep the office running smoothly. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience in a law firm and is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing a variety of administrative and legal support tasks in a busy professional environment. Responsibilities
Answer phones and emails, providing friendly and professional client service Manage conference room scheduling for will signings, real estate closings, and client meetings Order and maintain office supplies (paper, water, staples, etc.) Assist with client billing and coordinate with the bookkeeper to ensure records stay current Organize client files (digital and physical); draft routine correspondence and notices Prepare, proofread, and finalize legal documents as needed Handle all incoming and outgoing mail and packages Prepare and send client letters — printing, stamping, and ensuring timely delivery Preferred Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) Familiarity with Smokeball, Simplifile, E-Closing, or NH e-Filing platforms (a plus, but not required) Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to multitask effectively Excellent communication and organization skills This role offers the opportunity to be part of a collegial, professional office where everyone plays an important role in supporting clients and each other.
