Makes and/or approves major operating, business, engineering and operational decisions to ensure that the plant is operating optimally. Ensures that strategic operational/business plans are developed and implemented within the plant, and analyzes and reports on achievements and gaps. Manages cost by approving expenditures, controlling overtime, and monitoring the budget with monthly variance reporting. Directs operations to adapt to changes within the plant and MCC, including directing the Operations Manager in overall MCC operational capacity. Maintains positive and professional customer relationships. Coordinates activities to assure safety compliance, efficiency, reliability, and quality in accordance with contracts, policies and applicable regulatory laws. Communicates, monitors and controls plant expenditures on labor, materials and expenses against budgets, with reporting via standard site documentation and corporate reports. Ensures project instructions are implemented, tracks progress against schedule, and reports on safety, environmental, quality and HR performance. Ensures project quality and safety requirements are applied per company and statutory requirements. Coaches and mentors team members to align with business needs. Prepares and reviews progress, cost, sales and job reporting; ensures preparation of related documents in accordance with MCC procedures. Develops and implements cost-saving initiatives to improve operational performance. Analyzes and interprets data to make sound, cost-effective judgments. Holds direct responsibility for cost management including OTIF and EBITDA considerations. Participates in special products initiatives and other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or Business, or equivalent experience (10 years manufacturing leadership). Minimum of 10 years' experience in Operations/Lean Management, preferably with a printing focus, and with P&L responsibility at the plant level. Experience as a lead change agent in complex transformational activities. Significant experience implementing complex Lean principles in manufacturing operations. Formal Lean training from an academy or equivalent organization. Ability to analyze problems and provide innovative solutions. Proven success designing, implementing, and meeting KPI goals, including reducing costs, improving throughput, shortening cycle time, and improving inventory turns. Excellent communication skills.
