Distance Learning Lecturer (Classics) at University of Florida. 12-month appointment, renewable at 0.75 FTE with benefits. Start date January 1, 2026. Responsibilities
Teach: typically one course in Fall and one in Spring; courses taught in the past include Classical civilization, Latin and Greek literatures, arts, and archaeology. Director duties for the Distance Learning program: recruit new students, administer the admissions process, monitor and advise distance students, register students, set exams in cooperation with the department's graduate faculty, and plan the Summer Latin Institute. Oversee the program's website and social media; attend recruitment events; engage in service for the University, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Classics; participate fully in the life of the Department. Collaborate with the Center for Greek Studies to provide resources for research and professional development. This is a residential position located on the UF campus in Gainesville, FL. Required: PhD in Classics and experience with online teaching and social media. PhD in hand by January 1, 2026 (ABD must demonstrate that the PhD will be completed by then). Appointment Details
