The Center For Arts In Medicine (CAM) in the College of the Arts seeks an Assistant Professor to recruit, teach, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, maintain an active national and international externally funded research and creative activity profile, and participate in shared governance and service to the Center, College, University, and the Arts in Health field. Date of Expected Hire: August 16, 2026. Salary: $90,000 annual salary with a comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities
Teaching:
Recruit, teach, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in arts in health. Courses may be in person, asynchronous, or hybrid. Undergraduate examples: Introduction to Arts in Medicine in a Global Context; Music and Health; Dance in Medicine; Visual Arts in Medicine; Arts in Medicine Practicum; Music in Medicine Capstone. Graduate examples: Research and Evaluation in Arts in Medicine; Arts in Medicine Advanced Professional Seminar; Arts in Medicine Capstone Proposal. Participation in CAM's Research Primer with University College London may be possible.
Research and Creative Activity:
Maintain an active national and international research/creative activity profile in areas of specialization, manage a sponsored research portfolio, and participate in CAM's Interdisciplinary Research Lab.
Service:
Participate in shared governance and service to the Center, College, University, and field, including leadership roles and service opportunities benefiting the community and profession.
Qualifications Required:
Terminal degree (or ABD).
Potential for national/international-level research achievement aligned with UF tenure/promotion criteria.
Record of success in securing or applying for external funding; evidence of grant-writing skill.
Three (3) years of post-secondary teaching and student mentorship experience.
Evidence of ability to design and facilitate academic work that fosters curiosity, respect, open discourse, and inclusion in a diverse environment.
Preferred:
Doctoral degree.
Five (5) years of teaching/mentorship beyond graduate assistantship.
Track record of research at national/international level aligned with tenure criteria; funding experience.
Emphasis on Music or Visual Arts and Medicine; experience in student recruitment/outreach; cross-disciplinary curricula.
